Professional career

Indianapolis Colts

Collie impressed the head coach of Indianapolis Colts Jim Caldwell in preseason and placed third on an in-depth chart in wide receiver positions for the 2009 season, placing in front of Pierre GarÃÆ'§on for the slot receipt position. However, GarÃÆ'§on immediately jumped Collie on a deep chart shortly thereafter. Collie completed the rookie season in the NFL among the top statisticians for all beginners in wide receiver positions.

Collie started a promising second year, making many catchdowns and establishing himself as "go-to guy" Peyton Manning, after Dallas Clark got injured late in the season. However, on 7 November 2010, Collie was involved in a collision against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was beaten on both sides of his head by Quintin Mikell and Kurt Coleman. Collie was ejected from the field on a stretcher. According to ESPN's televised update, Collie was seen sitting and moving after several minutes of working with medical personnel. Collie suffered a concussion as a result of a collision. Coleman was punished for unnecessary rudeness for a hit at Collie, but no players were fined, as the NFL later ruled that the contacts causing the injury were incidental as a result of Mikell's initial attack. On December 19, 2010, Collie was struck in the head by linebacker Jaguar Daryl Smith and went down for a few minutes. It was his second concussion injury that year and finally ended his 2010 season. Despite the fact that no fine has been assessed, a highly visible injury to Collie has been added to the debate over violent attacks in football. On 22 December 2010, Collie placed on injury reserves, Colt seventeenth to end the season in early 2010. Collie played in all 16 games, making 5 starts, during the regular season of 2011 but managed to catch just one goal passing between his 54 receptions. During the 2012 preseason game against Pittsburgh Steelers, Collie suffered a third concussion in his career. During the third match of the 2012 season against Jacksonville Jaguars, Collie suffered a patellar tendon that broke in his right knee, causing him to miss the rest of the 2012 season.

On February 15, 2013, Collie was told that he would not be re-signed by the Colts.

San Francisco 49ers

On August 2, 2013, the San Francisco 49ers signed Collie with a 1 year contract. He was released on August 31, 2013 when the last name list is deducted.

New England Patriots

The New England Patriots signed Collie as a free agent on October 3, 2013. He signed for a one-year, veteran-minimum contract, which was $ 715,000 but prorated to $ 546,765. Because of Collie's previous injuries, the contract includes the release of injuries, which means the Patriot can release him if he is injured and only owes him "split" (50%) of the contract. He was released November 5, 2013 due to a knee injury, after just 3 catches for 34 yards. He was re-signed by the Patriots on December 5, 2013 to add depth to the rookie thrower Aaron Dobson and Kenbrell Thompkins dealing with a nagging injury. He was released once again on December 27, 2013 just to be re-signed on 2 January 2014. Patriots released Collie again after the NFL playoffs.

BC Lions

On January 29, 2015, it was announced that Collie had signed a contract with BC Lions of Canadian Football League. In his only CFL season, Collie plays in 16 games, capturing 43 bait 439 yards with 7 goals.

On April 8, 2016, Collie announced his retirement from professional football.
