Orlando Jonathan Blanchard Bloom (born January 13, 1977) is a British actor. After his breakthrough as Legolas in the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings, he became famous by appearing in fantasy epics, historical epics, and fantasy adventure movies. His other roles include Legolas in the Hobbit's The Hobbit trilogy, Will Turner in the Pirates of the Caribbean series, and Paris at Troy (2004).
Bloom later proved himself to be the leading person in Hollywood films such as Balian de Ibelin in Ridley Scott Kingdom of Heaven (2005) and Elizabethtown (2005). He made his professional stage debut at the West End's

Through him, Bloom is a cousin of photographer Sebastian Copeland. Mrs. Bloom's family lives in Tasmania (Australia), Japan, and India, and is of English origin, some of which are from Kent.
Bloom was raised in the Church of England. He studied at St Peter's Elementary School, Junior High School in King's School before continuing to St. Edmund's School in Canterbury. Bloom is known to suffer from dyslexia, and is encouraged by his mother to take art and drama classes. After being spurred into action following his school prize submission to panther Richard Sieben in 1992, in 1993, he moved to London to attend a two-year A Level course in Drama, Photography and Sculpture at Fine Arts College, Hampstead. He then joined the National Youth Theater, spent two seasons there and won a scholarship to be trained at the British American Drama Academy. Bloom started acting professionally with television roles in episodes of Casualty and Midsomer Murders , and then made his film debut at Wilde (1997), in front of Stephen Fry, before entering the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she studied acting.

Bloom's first appearance on the screen was in a small role, as a rented boy, in the 1997 film Wilde . Two days after graduating from the Guildhall in 1999, he played a role in his first major role, playing Legolas in the movie trilogy of The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003). He initially auditioned for the Faramir section, which did not appear until the second film, but the director, Peter Jackson, threw him as Legolas instead. While filming the scene, he broke the ribs after falling off the horse, but eventually recovered and continued firing. Bloom made his Broadway debut stage as Romeo at Romeo and Juliet in August 2013 at Richard Rodgers Theater. The New York Times theater critic Ben Brantley describes Bloom's performance as a "first-rate Broadway debut" in the title role: "For the first time, we have a substantively evolved Romeo, from a young man berpostur in love with love , to a man who discovers the startling revelation of true love, with the final decline into emotion, bitter anger leading to madness. Personal life
Bloom said that he was trying "not to exclude [himself] from real life as much as possible." During filming in Morocco for the Kingdom of Heaven, Bloom rescues and adopts a dog, Sidi (a black Saluki mix with a white mark on his chest).
Bloom is a Buddhist practicing under Soka Gakkai International. In 2004, he became a full member of SGI-UK (Soka Gakkai International branch in the UK), a lay Buddhist association affiliated with Nichiren's teachings.
Bloom has also been part of Global Green, an environmental company, since the early 2000s. As part of his environmental involvement, he has renovated his home in London to use solar panels, combine recyclable materials, and use energy efficient light bulbs. Bloom has been approached by UNICEF to act as an international ambassador.
Bloom has a "nine" Fairy tattoo tattooed on his right wrist, written in Tengpur Elvish's fictional manuscript, a reference to his involvement in Lord of the Rings as one of the nine members of the Ring Fellowship. Other actors from "The Fellowship" (Sean Astin, Sean Bean, Billy Boyd, Ian McKellen, Dominic Monaghan, Viggo Mortensen, and Elijah Wood) got the same tattoo with the exception of John Rhys-Davies who the substitute actor got a tattoo instead. Bloom also has a sun tattoo on the bottom of his left abdomen, which he got at age 15 before moving to London.
On February 12, 2009, Bloom actively participated in a 'United Australia' fundraiser to increase support for Australian forest fire victims on 7 February 2009.
On October 12, 2009, Bloom was named Goodwill Ambassador UNICEF. He has been involved in the organization since 2007 and has visited schools and villages in Nepal to support sanitation and education programs.

In a 2004 cultural experts poll conducted for the BBC, Bloom was named the twelfth most important person in British culture. On July 13, 2010, Bloom appeared in his hometown of Canterbury, where he earned his honorary degree from the University of Kent in Canterbury Cathedral.
