July
Arsenal take the squad of 25 players to play in Australia. The squad includes seven under 23, including Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock, plus both new players Sead Kola? Inac and Alexandre Lacazette. The first match took place on July 13, which was a 2-0 win over Sydney FC, where captain Per Mertesacker scored a loud shot and Lacazette scored his debut after coming on as a substitute. Two days later, Arsenal face second Sydney team, Western Sydney Wanderers, ahead of 83,000 people. Arsenal won 3-1 after first-half goals from Olivier Giroud, Aaron Ramsey and Mohamed Elneny. Arsenal then travel to China to face Bayern Munich in Shanghai in the International Champions Cup. Alex Iwobi scored the equalizer in the final seconds of the match, which Arsenal won 3-2 on penalties. The 25-man squad travel to Beijing to face Premier League rivals Chelsea. The Blues win somewhat convincingly, scoring three times. On 29 and 30 July, the Emirates Cup was held. Arsenal, Benfica, RB Leipzig and Sevilla all took part in the tournament, which Arsenal won after a 5-2 win over Benfica but lost 2-1 to Sevilla. During the tournament, Theo Walcott was the top scorer with two goals, both against Benfica. Giroud and Iwobi also scored one apiece against Benfica, while Lacazette scored one goal against Sevilla.
August
Arsenal ended their pre-season at the Community Shield, a traditional curtain opener in English football. The new signing Alexandre Lacazette hit the post on her competitive debut in the first half which saw Per Mertesacker replaced after a facial injury, with the signing of new Sead Kola? Inac made his competitive debut as Mertesacker's successor. After ending the first half that did not produce a goal, Chelsea took an early second half lead through Victor Moses, a close-range shot coming from a poor corner of defense. Several shots kept making him look Arsenal will suffer defeat, until a rash challenge by Chelsea winger Pedro saw him expelled. The resulting free kick is led by Kola? Inac for a debut goal, and forced a penalty shootout. Arsenal won 4-1 through goals by Theo Walcott, Nacho Monreal, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Olivier Giroud, with Thibaut Courtois and ÃÆ'lvaro Morata penalizing on penalties that introduced the ABBA format. The result guaranteed the third Arsenal Community Shield FA in four seasons.
Arsenal start their Premier League campaign at home against Leicester City, with the Gunners losing their last two opener, both at home to West Ham and Liverpool. The record looked extended when Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki scored for the Foxes after a record that equaled the 94th-minute opener from new Lacazette, opening his league debut with his first competitive Arsenal goal with only his second goal. touch game. Danny Welbeck equalized Arsenal in the last minute of the first half of extra time, but Vardy scored a second goal ten minutes into the second half to make Leicester lead once again. The Gunners seem to have lost their first game to the Foxes since 1994 when the last ten minutes approached, but a five-minute period from the pressure resulted in two goals from Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud making it 4-3, which is where the Gunners survived only for a second opening day win since 2012.
However, Arsenal's form slipped as August began to end. They suffered a 1-0 defeat against Stoke City after a poor defensive performance and a controversially disallowed goal from Alexandre Lacazette. A bad form of defense continued as they were crushed 4-0 by Liverpool and failed to record a shot on target, sending them near the relegation zone, despite the return of defender Laurent Koscielny and injured forward Alexis SÃÆ'ánchez.
September
Arsenal started September with a 3-0 victory over Bournemouth at home in the Premier League. Danny Welbeck scored Alexandre Lacazette's second goal for a convincing victory. Five days in the Gunners will play in the Europa League after failing to secure a place for regular Champions League. They played at home for German national team FC Cologne and spluttered conceded 40-yard as a consequence of misfortune from a mistake by second-choice goalkeeper David Ospina was thus scorned from the field in the first half. However Arsenal reply in the second half. Sead Kola? Inac volleyed in the equalizer then Alexis SÃÆ'ánchez scored to give the Gunners a lead and HÃÆ' à © ctor BellerÃÆ'n added a third as the match ended 3-1 in favor of Arsenal. In addition, the game saw Jack Wilshere return for his first Gunners appearance in over a year. On 17 September Arsenal resumed their Premier League campaign as they played against Chelsea champions at Stamford Bridge. The match ended 0-0 despite Aaron Ramsey hitting the post and Chelsea defender David Luiz was sent off in 87 minutes. Three days later Arsenal play in the League Cup third round against League One team Doncaster Rovers at Emirates. Theo Walcott scored the only goal of the game to send the Gunners into the fourth round but it was an unconvincing performance by Arsenal as they only managed a 1-0 win over third-tier teams. On 25 September Arsenal are at home to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League. The Gunners won 2-0 with Lacazette scoring two goals. To end September Arsenal play their second Europa League game of the season. They traveled to Belarus and won 4-2 against BATE Borisov. Walcott scored twice before Arsenal's first goal for Rob Holding as well as Olivier Giroud's 100th goal for Arsenal as the Gunners took all three points to England.
October
On October 1st, the Gunners played their seventh league game of the season against the newly promoted Brighton & amp. Hove Albion at Emirates. Arsenal won the match 2-0 thanks to goals from Nacho Monreal and Alex Iwobi. Two weeks after the international break the Gunners went to Watford. Captain Per Mertesacker gave the Gunners an edge in the first half but Watford went on to win 2-1: during the second half Troy Deeney converted a controversial penalty awarded by referee Neil Swarbrick. Then in the final minutes the former Manchester United and Everton player Tom Cleverley gave Watford a win. On 19 October Arsenal traveled to Serbia for their third Europa League game against Red Star Belgrade. The Gunners won 1-0 with Olivier Giroud scoring a superb overhead kick. Three days faster Arsenal go to Goodison Park to face struggling Everton. During the first half the Outoff of Toffees took the lead through a shot by Wayne Rooney outside the 18-yard box but Arsenal equalized with Monreal's shot rebound five minutes before the break. In the second half Mesut ÃÆ' â ⬠"Zil got his first goal of the season, headed home Alexis SÃÆ'ánchez. Then 15 minutes later, Idrissa Gueye of Everton was sent off for two yellow cards, which proved to captain the Merseyside team as Alexandre Lacazette's goal and Aaron Ramsey put Arsenal 4-1 up. In the final minutes, Oumar Niasse scored to give Everton hope following Petr's error? Ech misrepresents a benign back pass by Monreal. But then SÃÆ'ánchez scored his fifth goal for Arsenal in the final minute of extra time as the game ended 5-2 for the Gunners. Just two days later Arsenal play in the fourth round of the League Cup at Norwich City Championship. During the first half, Norwich grabbed a 1-0 lead as the Gunners were booed at the half-time whistle. However, on 85 minutes Eddie Nketiah's young man went off the bench to score an equalizing goal for Arsenal - his first goal in his home debut - as the match went into extra time where Nketiah scored once more for Arsenal, heading in the delivery of a set piece to place them 2-1. The match finally ended 2-1 to take the Gunners into the fifth round. The last match this October was in the Premier League at home to Swansea City. The Gunners were embarrassed to be 1-0 in the first half for their second consecutive home game but they went on to win 2-1 with a goal by Sead Kola? Inac and Ramsey to keep three points in favor of Arsenal.
November
The Gunners played their fourth Europa League game at Red Star Belgrade on 2 November but they did not have the spearhead as they drew 0-0. Next they face league leaders Manchester City at Etihad in the Premier League. The Gunners are played faster from start to finish: Kevin De Bruyne gives City the advantage and a controversial penalty by Sergio AgÃÆ'üero makes them 2-0 up. Sub Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal a glimmer of hope but then Gabriel Jesus scored Manchester City's third goal to end the 3-1 game to City. On 18 November after the international break, it was the day of the North London derby in the league as the Gunners played at home against Tottenham. Arsenal won the match 2-0 with first-half goals by Shkodran Mustafi and Alexis SÃÆ'ánchez to give the Gunners the first win over Tottenham in the league since 2014. Five days at Arsenal take a trip to Germany as they play their fifth Europa League fixture fixture against Cologne but although the Gunners' heavy momentum behind the North London derby won them suffering a humiliating 1-0 defeat by the bottom teams of the Bundesliga. Three days faster Arsenal go to Burnley in the league. Only an additional time penalty by Alexis SÃÆ'ánchez will give the Gunners an edge when the game ends 1-0 to Arsenal. The last game of November will see them play a newly promoted Huddersfield at home in the Premier League. Mesut ÃÆ'-zil produced a stunning performance when Arsenal won 5-0 with Alexandre Lacazette scoring the opening goal, Olivier Giroud scored the second and fifth, SÃÆ'ánchez scored the third and Ã-zil himself scored the fourth. The big win means that Arsenal will have great momentum going into the next Premier League game to be played in December - a big one at home to Manchester United.
December
Unfortunately Arsenal finally lost 3-1 from Manchester United. Antonio Valencia gave the visitors an early lead 4 minutes later, just 7 minutes later, Jesse Lingard made it 2-0. The Gunners tried to take back a goal before half-time as they dominated most of the first half but United keeper David de Gea produced a superb performance to stop them from doing this. Alexandre Lacazette hit the bar and just before the break De Gea made a blank shot to prevent United from conceding an own goal. During the second half in the 49th minute the Gunners finally got a goal back as Lacazette made it 2-1 but then, with 27 minutes remaining, Lingard scored a third for United as Arsenal's defense was hit during United's counterattack. In the 74th minute Paul Pogba was sent off for a rash challenge but was never proven to change the match when Manchester United won 3-1 and brought three points to Manchester. On 7 December Arsenal bounced back when they beat BATE Borisov 6-0 in the final Europa League group stage with goals by Mathieu Debuchy, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere, Olivier Giroud and Mohamed Elneny as well as an own goal by one of BATE Players Borisov. The Gunners are top of the group and will face the Swedish team ÃÆ' â ⬠"stersund in the Europa League 32 round to be held in February. On 10 December, Arsenal went to the South Coast to face Southampton in the league but could only draw 1-1. Three days later the Gunners face West Ham United away from home in the Premier League but the match does not produce a goal. Three days later, the Gunners played against Newcastle United at the Emirates in their third Premier League game in a row. The match ended 1-0 to Arsenal with Mesut ÃÆ' â ⬠"zil scored a stunning volley. On December 19th, the Gunners played in the fifth round of the League Cup against West Ham at home. Danny Welbeck scored the only goal in the match to send the Gunners to the semi-finals. On December 22, three days before Christmas, Arsenal face Liverpool at the Emirates in the Premier League. Philippe Coutinho gave the visitors half the first half of the time, 7 minutes into the second half, Mohamed Salah made it 2-0 for Liverpool. But Arsenal responded quickly when they scored three goals in five minutes. Goals by Alexis SÃÆ'ánchez, Granit Xhaka and ÃÆ'-zil changed the match as they led 3-2 but then on 71 minutes Roberto Firmino scored Liverpool's third goal to equalize. No further goals came as the game ended 3-3 with some describing it as a match this season. On December 28th, the Gunners went to Crystal Palace in the league and a 3-2 victory with Shkodran Mustafi scored the opener and SÃÆ'ánchez scored twice. Arsenal's last 2017 match is in the Premier League at West Brom. Baggies midfielder James McClean dismissed a SÃÆ'ánchez free-kick into his own net to give the Gunners a 1-0 advantage in the 83rd minute but then Arsenal conceded an 89th minute penalty which was controversial and wrongly awarded by referee Mike Dean as the match ended as a 1-1 draw. 2017 ended in disappointment for the Gunners.
January
The Gunners' first game this year saw them play at home to Chelsea in the league. The match produced no goals during the first half but the deadlock was broken by Arsenal 27 minutes before the game ended. Jack Wilshere took the Gunners into the lead but only lasted four minutes and Chelsea reversed the game: Eden Hazard scored a penalty and on 84 minutes Marcos Alonso made it 2-1 for Chelsea. It seemed it was determined for Chelsea to go and win the game but then in the second minute of extra time Arsenal grabbed a late equalizer through HÃÆ' à © ctor BellerÃÆ'n. At the last moment Chelsea almost scored the winner but Davide Zappacosta hit the crossbar. The match ended 2-2. On January 7th, the Gunners started the FA Cup campaign and played in the third round against troubled Nottingham Forest and had no manager. Arsenal are the defending champions of the competition are expected to win this tie comfortably against the team they hit at the League Cup last season but it turns out the match was a big killing: Arsenal were humiliated 4-2 by the Championship team and knocked out of the FA Cup for the first time under Arsene Wenger. Three days later the Gunners played in the League Cup semi-final first leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The game was boring and under par and no goals were made. On 14 January Arsenal continued their Premier League campaign in Bournemouth. BellerÃÆ'n gave the Gunners an edge in the 52nd minute but Bournemouth went on to win 2-1: a mistake by Petr? Ech allowed former Liverpool player Jordon Ibe to equalize in the 70th minute and just four minutes later Callum Wilson struck the winner. On January 20, the Gunners played their next Premier League game at home against Crystal Palace and won 4-1 with first-half goals by Nacho Monreal, Alex Iwobi, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette. Four days at Arsenal face Chelsea at Emirates in the second leg of the League Cup semifinals. During the first half Eden Hazard gave the visitors a lead but the Gunners equalized with Chelsea defender Antonio RÃÆ'üdiger who turned Monreal's effort into his own net. Twenty minutes into the second half Granit Xhaka put Arsenal in front and they then won 2-1 to send the Gunners to the League Cup final where they will face Manchester City. On January 30th, Arsenal's optimism and enthusiasm were hampered by a shock 3-1 defeat at Swansea City in the Premier League - a match involving a second error by Petr? Ech this month. The Czech keeper failed to keep a clean sheet in seven league games and aimed for a 200th win in the Premier League.
February
On 3 February the Gunners play in the Premier League at home against Everton - a match in which Arsenal make their home debut and first start for January players Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, both playing together earlier for Borussia Dortmund. Arsenal won the match 5-1 with Mkhitaryan bagging three assists, Aaron Ramsey scored a hat-trick and Aubameyang scored one goal. It feels like a new start for Arsenal with new players - and new contract Mesut ÃÆ'-zil - but never looked different on February 9: The Gunners face Tottenham at Wembley in the Premier League derby of North London and lose 1-0 thanks to a goal from Harry Kane. Five days at Arsenal will play the first leg of the 32nd Europa League round on the Swedish team ÃÆ' â ⬠"stersund where the Gunners won 3-0. The next Arsenal match will be the second leg of the round at the Emirates where the ÃÆ' â ⬠"stersund rally scored twice in the first half. One more goal will even tie but then in the second half Sead Kola? Inac sent the Gunners back into the comfort zone so the aggregate became 4-2. Arsenal advanced to the next round of the Europa League despite a shocking 2-1 defeat by Swedish underdogs. On 25 February Arsenal return to Wembley where they will face Manchester City in the League Cup final. The Gunners were beaten to death by Premier League leaders who fled and lost 3-0. Sergio AgÃÆ'üero handed Manchester City the lead following big defensive errors Arsenal. In the 58th minute, captain Vincent Kompany made it 2-0 for City and David Silva added a third. After the former Arsenal Gunners insult Ian Wright said that it was a 'bland performance' by Arsenal.
March
On March 1st, Arsenal continued their Premier League campaign by playing at home against Manchester City. The Gunners failed to avenge the League Cup final defeat and they were beaten 3-0 with first-half goals by Bernardo Silva, David Silva and Leroy SanÃÆ'à © while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang failed to execute a penalty in the second half. The defeat of Arsenal will send City closer to the title of victory and will only inflict more misery on the Gunners and ArsÃÆ'ène Wenger. It only got worse for them on 4 March where the Gunners lost 2-1 at Brighton in the Premier League increasingly increasing the pressure on Wenger. However, on 8 March, the Gunners responded in the first leg of the Europa League where they won 2-0 against AC Milan in Italy and three days after they won 3-0 at home to Watford thanks to Shkodran Mustafi, Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. That is also the match where Petr? Ech finally keeps the 200th Premier League clean sheet and he has to save Troy Deeney's penalty to make sure of this. The last game of the Gunners in March is the second leg of the Europa League round at the Emirates. Milan took the lead on 35 minutes but Arsenal went on to win 3-1 with a goal by Danny Welbeck and Granit Xhaka with his former scoring. The Gunners won 5-1 on aggregate so they took them to the Europa League quarterfinals.
