Stoudamire was born to Willie Stoudamire and Liz Washington in Portland, Oregon; he was an only child, with three half-brothers; his parents never married. Willie Stoudamire moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to work at the brewery when Damon was seven years old. Stoudamire was raised by his mother, Liz, and his grandmother, Wanda Stoudamire-Matthews.

While Stoudamire grew up, his uncles, Charles and Anthony Stoudamire, made him engage in sports, especially basketball and soccer. They acted as fathers and personal trainers for Stoudamire at his younger age, as he grew up watching his favorite player, Nate Archibald, and tried to pattern his game after his childhood hero. As he gets older, Damon starts playing basketball at Irving Park in the Portland-Irvington neighborhood and at the Matt Dishman Community Center in Portland.

Stoudamire attended elementary school of Holy Redemption (Catholic school) and Harriet Tubman Middle School, then attended Woodrow Wilson High School. During his first year in high school, his grandmother Wanda died of cancer. He will then tattoo Wanda's face and address on his left arm as a memory. He was accepted to attend and play basketball in Oregon, but chose to attend Arizona instead.

Stoudamire has a noteworthy rookie season with the Toronto Raptors, being the team's first draft selected, and an average of 9.3 assists and 19 points per game. She earned the nickname "Mighty Mouse" because she only stood 5 ft 10 in (1.78 m), and that she had a Mighty Mouse tattoo on her right arm entering her rookie season. He made a record for three field goals made by a rookie with a record-breaking 133 at the time held by Dennis Scott. This record has been broken several times since the sign of 133 Stoudamire. Currently held by Damian Lillard, who made 185 three in his rookie season. Stoudamire was third in the average assistant by a rookie. He is also known as the shortest player ever. won this award. He did not play the last 10 games of the rookie season because of tendinitis in his left knee. The Raptors ended the year and his rookie season with 21 wins and 61 defeats.

Stoudamire previously held the record for most triple doubles with the Toronto Raptors with 3 triple doubles, a record that stood until 2014, when solved by Kyle Lowry.

Portland Trail Blazers

On February 13, 1998, he was traded by the Raptors along with Walt Williams and Carlos Rogers to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Kenny Anderson, Alvin Williams, Gary Trent, two draft first-round drafts, second-round draft and cash considerations. As a member of the Blazers, his statistics are somewhat down from the peak of his career. In the 2001-02 season, Blazers donated Stoudamire for most of the time. The new head coach, Maurice Cheeks, went with Scottie Pippen and Bonzi Wells instead of the guard post. However, Stoudamire received significant play time in the playoffs that season.

On 14 January 2005, Stoudamire hit a career high and the Blazers recorded 54 points, including 8 3-pointers, against the New Orleans Hornets. The same season, on April 15, he fired the NBA 21 3-point attempt record, making just 5 of them.

Stoudamire's contract with the Blazers ended at the end of the 2004-05 season, and it became widely known that the Blazers, which focused on the youth movement and looking for players of good character, had no intention of recruiting him. This became very evident in August 2005, when the team signed free guard Juan Dixon to the contract, and assigned him the Stoudamire uniform number (3). Stoudamire wants the Blazers to complete a sign-and-trade deal in which he will end up with the Houston Rockets, but as this will require Portland to take on one of Houston's more paying players as a team and, by that time, has a relatively high salary, decided to go the other way with players like Travis Outlaw and Sebastian Telfair.

Memphis Grizzlies

On 5 August 2005, after Stoudamire had discussions with several teams, it was announced that he signed a 4-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, where he replaced Jason Williams, who went to Miami Heat, as a starting point keeper. On December 30, 2005, he tore his right patellar tendon, by chance in his hometown of Portland. He was taken out of court, and underwent a successful operation in Birmingham, Alabama the following week. He missed the rest of the 2005-06 season, returning for 2006-07, and eventually playing 62 matches, where he started 51 (the guard point duty split evenly with veteran reserves of Chucky Atkins).

During the 2007-08 season, in NBA Access with Ahmad Rashad, he said he worked hard with Mike Conley, Jr., a 2007 pick by Grizzlies, who, after Stoudamire's departure, would play the lead role as a point guard. When Conley returned from injury, Grizzlies head coach Marc Iavaroni put Stoudamire in an inactive roster and used rookie rookie Mike Conley as a starting point for the keeper, causing Stoudamire to look for a trade or purchase. On 26 January 2008, the Grizzlies reached a contractual purchase agreement with Stoudamire, with the San Antonio Spurs, the Boston Celtics, the Phoenix Suns, the Denver Nuggets and the Toronto Raptors registering a strong interest to sign him. On January 28, the purchase was completed and Stoudamire was placed on the waivers. The Celtics initially showed a strong interest in Stoudamire, but because it directed their views on Sam Cassell of the LA Clippers. According to Stoudamire agent, Stoudamire will sign a contract with Spurs.

San Antonio Spurs

On February 3, 2008, Stoudamire signed a contract with the San Antonio Spurs. He briefly started for Spurs while Tony Parker was injured, but then relegated to the place of duty throughout the rest of the season and playoffs.

Houston Rockets

Stoudamire is considered to be camping with the Houston Rockets, but he did not attend the training camp.

possession of cannabis

His job with the Portland Trail Blazers was marred by several marijuana related incidents including one during the 2002-03 season in which, with the power of commencement while forward Rasheed Wallace, his yellow Hummer stopped at I-5 for speeding and driving under the influence of marijuana. In July 2003, after his third arrest for possession, he was fined $ 250,000 and suspended by the team for three months. President Blazer Steve Patterson announced that he wanted to cancel Stoudamire's contract but found no provision in the contract that would allow him to do so.

Stoudamire completed a 90-day rehabilitation program. In addition, he made a deal with John Canzano's The Oregonian sports columnist for taking the urine test without notice during any point of the 2003-04 season to prove his composure. Mid-season, Canzano appeared in the team locker room and produced a specimen bottle filled by Stoudamire. The independent testing laboratory reported back the results that he was indeed clean. The incident rehabilitated Stoudamire in the minds of many Portland fans, who regarded him as one of the "Prison Jails". However, Stoudamire is widely criticized by the NBA Players Association for drug tests, which claim that NBA players can only be subject to tests as determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) league. The fact that the test is voluntary, and not managed by a league or one of its teams, does not make Stoudamire immune to such criticism. Despite criticism, no official action was taken by the union against Stoudamire for his participation in the test.
