College career

While he maintains his focus on his studies, Barber also becomes a successful college athlete; he broke the University of Virginia's long jump record on his first jump, and put the University of Virginia soccer program back on the map. NFL Career

Initially he was thought to go down, "speed change" back, Barber became a prominent player who started running back and leader of all time within a very close distance in the history of the New York Giants. In 2005, he was the winner of the NFL over the yardage of the line of struggle. He was picked by his colleagues for three Pro Bowls. From 2003-2006, Tiki Barber got the furthest distance from the struggle with the NFL running back in the 4-year period.

1997-1999

Barber was designed by the New York Giants in the 2nd round of the 1997 NFL Draft of the University of Virginia. He initially intended to be third-down running back until Rodney Hampton had a disappointing year in 1996 and 1997. Hampton retired after the 1997 season, giving Barber a nod starting. He started his career with a mediocre rookie campaign where he started running again and ran as far as 511 yards and 3 goals. He missed four games with a knee injury, but returned to the starting lineup for the last two games of the year. In 1998, he was replaced as a starter and underwent a disappointing year, hit by an injury before rebounding in 1999 when he rounded up 1,639 versatile yards, reusing his kick and accepting skills.

2000-2004

Tiki Barber and Giants represented the NFC at Super Bowl XXXV in 2001 but lost the match to the Baltimore Ravens. Founded as a starter and playmaker, Barber was rewarded with a six-year contract from the Giants after the 2000 season. After signing, he calls himself "the happiest man in New York right now."

Over the next four years, Barber will be an integral part of the Giants offense. In the last regular season game of 2002, Tiki exploded as far as 203 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles, at that time one of the league's best defenses. His performance helped the Giants reach the playoff spot, but the team fell to the San Francisco 49ers in a wild-card round. He ended the season with 1984 yards of soccer practice.

The 2003 NFL season sees the Giants complete 4-12 abundance. During the 2004 NFL season, Barber reached the endzone for 15 goals in a career high. He also rushed 1,518 yards and scored 578 yards to receive a total of 2,096 yards from the wrestling. On 2 January 2005, in the 2004 season finals at home versus the Dallas Cowboys, Tiki broke Rodingham Hampton Giants' rough record all the time and the only season rushing Joe Morris in the same game. Barely, Barber broke the record for the last offensive game of the game, when he scored the winning goal to end the 6-10 bad season for the Giants at the high point.

season 2005

2005 is a year of rebounds for the career years of Giants and Barber in terms of mileage. Led by Eli Manning and Barber, they finished 11-5 and won the NFC East title for the first time since 2000. On December 17, 2005, Barber broke the Giants single-game record against Kansas City Chiefs, rushing to 220 yards; he will break his own record the following year. It was the second (out of three) 200-yard hurry game during the 2005 season, as he ran as far as 206 yards in the 8th week. The Giants soon closed the Washington Redskins 36-0 two days after Wellington Mara was buried, a proper tribute to the beloved owner they, to whom the Tiki itself is very close.

He finished the 2005 regular season with 1,860 yards running (second in the league for Shaun Alexander and a career high for Barber) and 2,390 multi-purpose yards with a rushing 203 meter performance against the Oakland Raiders in the final game of the season. Barber 95-yard touchdown run set Giants team record for long-touchdown run, previously held by Hap Moran to run 91 yards on 23 November 1930 vs. Green Bay Packers.

His 960 meters of wrestling in December 2005 was an NFL record until broken by Chris Johnson, who had 968 of soccer practice in November 2009.

The season ends prematurely, as the Giants close 23-0 to the Carolina Panthers in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Barber's 2,390 yard total for 2005 was the second highest in NFL history, at the time, behind a total of 2,429 Marshall Marshall in 1999. It is also the highest total to run back 30 years or older. He was named to the NFC Pro Bowl squad for the second time in his career, and was selected as All Pro. Barber placed fourth in the voting for the 2005 MVP award. Seattle Seahawks ran back Shaun Alexander to win the Prize, followed by Peyton Manning (second place) and Tom Brady (third place).

She was nominated for the 2005 FedEx Ground Player of the Year Award, along with LaDainian Tomlinson and Shaun Alexander. Barber also signed a contract extension in September 2005 that extended his contract until 2008 and increased his salary.

2006 season

In the 2006 season, Barber continued his good game in his last season and the last game as an NFL player, a rare thing to run back that is often too late in their careers. Their total foreheads in the season were higher than running back in history in their last season.

The barber rushed for 1,662 yards and five goals in his 2006 campaign. During the 14th week in the Carolina, Barber rushed for 112 yards to help the Giants end a four-match defeat. The best game of Tiki in 2006 was on Sunday 17th in Washington, where he rushed for 234 yards and 3 goals in a 34-28 Giants win against the Redskins, a win that gave the Giants a playoff spot. In the game, Tiki set a new team record for rushing yard in one game by breaking his own record, which he had set the previous year versus Kansas City. His most 234 coffers were once owned by players over the age of 30. He also holds the record for most of the 200-yard game in a hurry by players over the age of 30 with four. Only three other players have it.

In his last match with the Giants, the playoff defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, Barber rushed to 137 yards in 26 leads. After the game, the safety of Eagles Brian Dawkins hugged Barber and told him, "You're a fighter."

As a Pro Bowler in his final season, Barber's last official match was the 2007 Pro Bowl on February 10, 2007 in Hawaii.

NFL Retirement

In October 2006, Barber revealed his intention to retire at the end of the 2006 NFL season. Barber had previously shown his desire to retire at some point and pursue a broadcasting career. When asked why a player at the top of his game will retire, Barber mentions the toll that the physical nature of soccer takes on a person's body.

During his career with the Giants, the team never won the championship, Barber's main goal he talked about openly in 2005. When announcing his retirement, Barber seemed calm to leave the game without a Super Bowl ring. He said, "I used to think my career was determined by not winning the Super Bowl, but I think looking back on my career, they will see someone who is a competitor, someone who always plays hard and never gives up. He formally submitted his retirement letter with the Players Association on February 12, 2007.

In the next NFL season after Barber's retirement, the New York Giants went on to defeat an previously unbeaten 18-2 New England Patriots to win the Super Bowl XLII in one of the biggest disruptions in sports history. Barber was present to cover the event, but was not well received by most of his former teammates and Giants fans, after his dismissive comments about his former team-mates and Giants, Eli Manning.

Retrying to NFL

On March 8, 2011, Barber filed a document to get out of retirement. Although the New York Giants still retain the right to Barber, the Giants plan to release him once the NFL and NFLPA reach a collective bargaining agreement.

On April 28, 2011, Barber was quoted as saying his comeback was "not about money"; However, the New York Post contained contradictory news in 2010, reporting that Barber was trying to return to the NFL because he was not financially solvent, and could not pay for his divorce settlement with his ex-wife..

On July 28, 2011, the Giants officially removed Barber from the pension list, allowing him to freely sign any contract with any team. On August 2, 2011, Barber started working with Miami Dolphins.

On September 5, 2011, Barber's agent Mark Lepselter confirmed that no NFL team was interested in signing him to their team.

Starting from the breakout season in 2000, Barber is known for cutback runs, fast legs, and tremendous running vision. He is also a receptive recipient out of the backfield with over 450 receiving yards and over 50 receptions each season from 2000 to 2006.

After 2003, despite its hasty total pages, Barber has a tendency to make mistakes. He committed nine fumbles and lost six lost in the 2002 and 2003 seasons, respectively. It also includes three lost defeats in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on December 28, 2002. When head coach Tom Coughlin arrived, he taught Barber to hold the ball vertically and not horizontally, which is a common practice in rugby football. After adapting to this change, his frustration dropped significantly. In 2004, he only had two losses lost and started doing only four losing errors in three years with Coughlin.

Barber began focusing on strength training and lifted in 2004 on the advice of his new back coach, Jerald Ingram. Barber began working with strength coach Joe Carini in New Jersey. His added upper body strength allows him to solve more tackles and improve as he ran back. Barber improved in another way during his career. He perfected his patience during the game-playing, which is required in football to wait for the blocks to be installed and form a hole to appear on the offensive line before accelerating forward. Barber also increased his physical toughness and blocking ability, as he was not known for being skilled in it early in his career. Barber also benefited from an improved offensive line and Coughlin's emphasis on the new Strategic Giants game.

Strahan contract controversy

In 2002, All-Pro Giants defensive end Michael Strahan was negotiating a new contract, and Tiki Barber publicly criticized Michael Strahan's negotiating attitude. He felt Strahan should approve the contract offered by the Giants and commented that Strahan was greedy. The contract affects the team because the number of Strahan caps exceeds $ 12 million and the new contract will lower the number of Strahan caps, greatly helping the team earn under the 2002 Cap Salary. "I do not know if he realized how much $ 17 million," Barber told the NY Post. "It's really ridiculous, to change that. He's been the highest-paid defensive player in the league, he's made more than most quarterbacks... Michael does not think about the team; he thinks of himself."

Keith Hamilton, a team mate of Strahan and Barber at the time, then responded with critical comments on Barber. Players generally believe that they should not talk about other player contracts. Beyond that, some members of the Giants defense held a grudge against the offense, which was uninspired and unproductive in the 1990s. "Defense has committed a foul, bringing the team, because I'm here," Hamilton told The Star-Ledger. "[The barber] has not been here long enough or enough to say anything, for him to shoot his mouth, act like he is Mr. New York, yes, I mark Strahan is a record for one season He is the Best Defensive Player AP Year He's one of the best - if not the best - defensive ends in the game And you say that this guy is greedy? That's bullshit I've heard enough Who Tiki Barber is to shoot his mouth What's he doing? as he acts in the best interests of the team Tell him to give $ 7 million (bonus signing) back because he's so generous, why not? "He's willing to pay $ 7 million? He says all the right things politically. Ask him if he handed over some of his money. "Despite this incident, Strahan and Barber are currently friendly to each other in public.

Train critics

Although Barber's stats improved greatly after Tom Coughlin became head coach of the Giants, Barber disliked and criticized Coughlin's style of coaching. During his tenure, Barber publicly questioned team coaching on two occasions. After being shut at home in the first round of the 2005 playoffs by the Carolina Panthers, Tiki made post-match comments that he felt the Giants had been defeated by their former defensive coordinator, Panthers head coach John Fox. Attention to heavy sports media is placed on comments; Tiki apologized for it soon after, saying he only intends to convey the Giants' performance is' unacceptable '.

After losing to Jacksonville Jaguars during the 2006 season, Barber criticized playcalling for leaving the game running too fast. Both times Coughlin and Barber meet to discuss the comments.

On the eve of his last game with the Giants, Barber told ESPN that he was "humiliated and discussed" by Coughlin.

After his retirement, Barber attributed his decision to retreat into Coughlin's unceasing style in practice. "(Coughlin) pushed me toward (from the television)," Barber said. "I do not know if you are aware of this but we are in full cushion for 17 weeks, and with the amount of injuries we have, it just takes a toll on you.You do not want to be physically out there when your body feels like you do, in full cushion. "

The Giants will then win the Super Bowl, the year after Barber retires.

Personal life

The twin boys Barber were born five weeks prematurely. Barber was born seven minutes after his identical twin brother, Ronde Barber.
