Menis E. Ketchum II (born January 31, 1943, in Wayne County, West Virginia) is a West Virginia Appellate Court Judge. He was elected a twelve-year-old Democrat at the Court in November 2008 and served as Supreme Court Justice in 2012 and served a second term as Supreme Court Justice in 2016.

Ketchum was born and raised in Wayne County, West Virginia, son of attorney Chad Ketchum (1911-98). A graduate of a public school in West Virginia, Mr. Ketchum attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio from 1960-64. He played university baseball while at the OU and became a member of the Mid64 American Mid-American Conference Baseball Team in 1964. Upon his return to West Virginia he enrolled at West Virginia University Law School in Morgantown. From 1965-1966, he contributed authors from the West Virginia Law Review and Associate Editor from 1966-67. In 1967, he earned the title Juris.

Ketchum returned to Huntington, West Virginia to practice law with his father at the law firm of Greene, Ketchum & amp; Baker in 1967. For 40 years, Ketchum has demanded various types of cases, including insurance defense, personal injury, prosecution and criminal defense, Maritime, Federal Employers Obligations Act (FELA). He practiced law with Greene, Ketchum, Bailey & amp; Tweel and his senior partner from 1980 until his election to the Supreme Court. According to Ketchum, he has tried more than 150 cases for jury verdicts and demanded more than 30 cases reported by the Supreme Court.
Recognized continuously since 1989 until elected in the magazine The Best Lawyers in America , Mr. Ketchum was formerly a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). Throughout his legal career, he has published legal articles and presented many sustainable legal education seminars to ban associations, selection associations and legal assistant associations.
Mr. Ketchum was appointed to the Board of Governors of Marshall University at the time by Governor Bob Wise in 2002. He resigned on January 2, 2008, to campaign for a seat in the Supreme Court. He served as Vice-Chair when he left the institution of the university administration.
Other Governor's appointments include the State Mine Safety Task Force as Legal Counsel by Governor Joe Manchin.
He also serves Huntington City as a member of the Urban Renewal Authority. He participated in the Joint Vision of the Health Care Team, a statewide program to develop a team focusing toward uninsured medicals in West Virginia state.
The Four Democrats filed two seats in the Supreme Court for the 2008 election. In addition to Menis Ketchum, they were former Justice Court Judge Margaret Workman, the first woman serving in state high court, Lyng legal professor and lawyer Bob Bastress and Justice Judge Elliott "Spike" Maynard. Ketchum and Workman managed to get rid of Justice Maynard and compete against Republican candidate Beth Walker in the 2008 general election.
On November 4, 2008, elections, Ketchum garnered 34.54% of the vote to 33.68% for Workers. Beth Walker of the Republic reached 31.78% of the vote.
Ketchum justice was sworn in the Supreme Court of Appeals on December 18, 2008 and officially took his seat on 1 January 2009.
Personal
Married to former Judy Varnum since 1966, the couple has three children and six grandchildren. Their son, Bert, is also a partner at his father's law firm.
